If you live in one of Frankfort's newer subdivisions, the first thing to know about tree and shrub lighting in Frankfort, IL is that wind, not height, is the hard part. Twinkle Bros Lighting LLC designs, installs and maintains tree and shrub lighting here with that in mind: warm-white commercial-grade LED, wrapped and secured for open lots, serviced all season, then removed in late January or February, weather permitting, and stored at our facility.
Why Frankfort Landscapes Light Differently
Frankfort has two personalities. Around the historic downtown — Breidert Green, the old storefronts on Kansas and White Streets, the Old Plank Road Trail running through — the lots are older, closer together and shaded by established trees. Head out toward the subdivisions built over the last thirty years and the picture changes: big lots on what was open farmland, homes set well back from the road, and landscaping that is still filling in.
That newer Frankfort landscape has three features that drive every design we do there.
Young trees with a lot of room around them
Front-yard trees in newer subdivisions are often fifteen to twenty-five years old: big enough to matter, small enough to light completely. A fully wrapped young tree on an open lawn reads beautifully from the street because nothing competes with it.
Large landscape beds
Builders and landscapers in Frankfort tend to plant generous beds: ornamental grasses, boxwood, hydrangea, a specimen tree or two. Those beds sit between the road and the house, which makes them the natural middle layer of a display.
Evergreen screens
Rows of spruce or arborvitae along a property line or a back-lot berm are common, often planted as windbreaks. Lit carefully, they become a dark-green wall glowing at the edge of the property. Lit carelessly, they look like a hedge with a string of lights thrown on top.
Designing Tree and Shrub Lighting in Frankfort for the Long View
On a lot where the house sits 80 feet back, most people see your display from a moving car. That favours bold, continuous shapes: a fully wrapped tree, a lit bed outline, a glowing row of evergreens. Fussy detail gets lost at that distance.
Our usual Frankfort layering, from the road inward:
- Front-yard tree or trees, wrapped trunk to branch tips if young, trunk and primary limbs if mature.
- Landscape beds, with shrubs hand-wrapped so they glow from inside rather than wearing a net.
- Foundation plantings that tie the lit roofline to the ground.
- The roofline itself, in C9 warm white, matched to everything else.
Warm white, around 2700K, is our default because it looks rich against brick, stone and dark evergreen needles, and it keeps the whole property in one colour family. Multicolour works too, especially on young deciduous trees.
Built for Wind and Snow
Open ground means wind. A strand that's simply looped around a young tree will slide down the trunk by mid-December, and loose lights on an evergreen row whip around and fail. We handle that three ways:
- Tight, even wraps with each pass secured so the spiral can't slide.
- Evergreens wrapped into the branches, not draped across the outside where wind can lift them.
- Cords run low and tidy across beds and lawn, with no long loops for snow to catch or a snowblower to find.
If something does fail, it's covered. Our all-season holiday light maintenance means we come back and fix it, and you never climb a ladder in a Frankfort January.

Pricing Factors
Tree and shrub lighting is priced by the job, not by a published starting figure. On Frankfort properties, the main drivers are:
- Number and size of trees, and how far up we wrap
- Square footage of landscape beds lit
- Length of evergreen rows
- Distance from power. Deep setbacks can mean long outdoor-rated runs.
Your online quote breaks those out line by line.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the lights stay on my trees in the wind?
Yes. On open Frankfort lots we secure each wrap so it can't slide down the trunk, and we work strands into evergreen branches rather than draping them on top. If anything shifts, our all-season service covers the fix.
Can you light my landscape beds as well as my trees?
Yes. We hand-wrap shrubs and grasses in landscape beds so they glow from inside. Beds are often the best middle layer on a deep Frankfort lot, between the road and the house.
Is warm white or multicolour better for trees?
Warm white is our default because it matches a C9 roofline and suits brick, stone and evergreens. Multicolour can look great on young deciduous trees. We'll show you both in the online design.
When should I book tree and shrub lighting in Frankfort?
In October or early November. Installs run mid-October to mid-November, and larger landscape jobs take longer to schedule, so earlier is better.
