C9 at 8-inch spacing produces a denser, more luxurious line and is common on premium installations. That's 1.5 bulbs per foot, so the same 250-foot roofline needs about 375 bulbs.
C7 bulbs are smaller and typically spaced 8 to 12 inches apart. They read better at close range and are often used for entry detail and porch work rather than long-distance roofline.
Mini lights run far denser — commonly 100 bulbs per 20 to 25 feet of strand. They disappear at distance on a big house, which is why they're better suited to wrapping and shrubs than to a two-story eave.

Trunk plus primary branches. Two to three times the trunk-only figure. A mature oak done properly can absorb 400 to 800 feet of strand by itself — more than many entire rooflines.
Shrubs. For a medium foundation shrub, budget roughly 100 to 200 mini lights each. A row of six across the front of a house adds up quickly.
